During this year’s International Coaching Week organized by ICF Singapore, I had the opportunity to listen to Magdalena Nowicka Mook, the CEO of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She gave an inspiring speech on how AI can transform the coaching industry.
AI as a Helpful Tool
Magdalena made it clear that AI isn’t a threat to our profession. Instead, it’s a tool that can help us learn faster, gain knowledge, and cut down on inefficiencies. AI is getting better at things like assessments and working with large organizations, making our jobs easier. However, AI can’t replace the human touch. It provides the information and resources we need, but we still need to connect with our clients on a personal level.
Making Our Work More Efficient
Magdalena shared an ICF study showing that coaches spend only 30% of their time actually coaching.
The rest is taken up by business and admin tasks. AI can help us reduce this workload dramatically. It can assist with marketing, analyze recorded sessions for insights, and more.
As Magdalena said, “Why wouldn’t you use AI?” when it can make our work so much easier and more effective.
Overcoming Fears and Embracing AI
Many coaches worry that AI might replace them. But Magdalena encouraged us to see AI as a valuable tool, not a threat. AI is here to support us and make our work better, not take over. Embracing AI can lead to more efficient practices and better results for our clients.
